Welcome

Whether you are looking to make a positive change or find a few small steps toward transformation, the first thing I want to say is:

I believe this is possible for you.

Most of us come to places where life isn’t working well, whether we are caught in hurt or trapped in negative patterns and mindsets. At some point we arrive tired of our past and stalled out in our present, and we want a new future.

I have had the opportunity to help many clients find genuine movement and enter a journey toward wholeness. It would be an honour to walk with you.

My counselling style has been described as warmly relatable, non-judgmental, solution focussed, and highly practical.

Together we can find a way forward.

Where do we start?

The foundation for effective therapy is relationship. Research shows that the relationship between client and therapist is the single most important factor for meaningful change. This is why my practice seeks to ensure that you receive the respect, appreciation, and compassion that will nourish your growth.

In pursuit of this I offer a 20-minute consultation session as a way to ensure that I am the right therapeutic fit for you at this time (book here).  This is a time for you to ask any questions you have and a chance for me to introduce myself to you as you seek to move forward.  You are welcome to connect with me using my contact page with any other questions (here).

What does counselling

look like?

The counselling journey begins with initial sessions to identify your core questions and stories. When it comes to your life, you are the expert. My approach is highly collaborative as I listen and work with you to identify both your problems and possibilities. Together we will explore a variety of therapeutic modalities and treatments that will serve you best and that you will choose. In subsequent sessions we will explore strategies for growth and begin the work of reimagining a hopeful future—one where you can find a way into lasting change.

Clients often ask about frequency of sessions. Research reveals that the best results from therapy come from weekly or bi-weekly (once ever two weeks) sessions. This allows us to form a strong relationship and to actively work towards your goals. In certain cases this may not be possible due to finances and this is something we can discuss in session.

After change is in process or goals are more in sight this can move towards a maintenance schedule of less frequent sessions, or you may choose to take a break and return when new challenges arise.
